Tutorial: Editing to Change Eye Color

  1. Open the Adobe Photoshop editing application and import a close-up image of the face that you want to change the eye color.
  2. Click on the background layer to activate it and start editing.
  3. Navigate the cursor to the tools bar on the left layer.
  4. Locate the elliptical marque tool, then click. The cursor will change shape to a plus sign (+).
  5. Position the cursor on the eyeball, then start forming a circular selection precisely on the black part of the left eye. Afterward, press shift and do the same for the right eye.
  6. Create a new layer by clicking the icon with a box containing the symbol +. This action will generate a new layer named “Layer 1.” Then click the half black and white circle icon, positioned next to the icon for creating a new layer.
  7. Choose solid color. Set the color to red with the hex code fff000. A new layer named “Color Fill” will appear next to Layer 1.
  8. Change the blending mode to overlay in the layer panel. Then, decrease the opacity until the eye color changes and looks natural.
  9. Return to solid color, add a blue color, and click OK.
  10. Go to the filter menu, select blur -> gaussian blur. If a window appears offering to change to a smart object, click “Change to Smart Object.”
  11. In the gaussian blur window, change the radius to 4.8, then click OK.
